One-step to what Jesus does best

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest –Mathew 11:28

In the middle of last year, I had a positive, in your face conversation with my confidant. We were watching a documentary on India. There was a scene in which I saw a man and two people on a rickshaw. The man lifted the bar which was attached to the seats on his rickshaw and started running. It literally looked like he was carrying the people on his rickshaw. I felt sorry for him. I said to my friend, “How bad! Poor guy must be in so much pain. I would never make anyone do that. My friend being the wise one replies, “Have you ever thought that the guy is doing what he  only knows and does best?!” 🙂

Mathew 11:28, is exactly what Jesus does best. He is our assurer. He makes us feel ‘safe and secure’. He heals our hurt, gives us rest. How wonderful is that! We have a God who forever wants us to experience his comforting love. At times our circumstances may feel like they are caught up in a tunnel; with no ends, nor openings to be seen. Our emotions can also seem like they are roaming all about without being able to settle down. No matter what conditions we maybe facing, we have our savior who loves us too much. He has made a promise to us that anytime we call out to him, he will unpack our burdens and make sure we have a break. Our Jesus is faithful. His words are everlasting.

It’s so cute to see a baby wrapped up, looking cozy in the arms of his parents. No one can touch him without permission. In the eyes of Jesus, we are always going to look childlike. No matter how much we grow up, he knows when vulnerability hits us; we are going to feel like we need someone to hold us. No one can touch us while he is protecting us.

All we need to do is take the first, one and only step. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”- Romans 10:13
